Online therapy sessions: Skype therapy sessions

Welcome! My name is Peter Strong, and I am a professional therapist. I live in Boulder, Colorado, and I offer online psychotherapy via Skype. Skype Counseling is becoming increasingly popular, mostly because of the convenience of online therapy. It means that you can see a therapist without having to leave home. This is very important if you are suffering from social anxiety or agoraphobia, where it’s really difficult to leave home. Online therapy is also very convenient for people who can’t leave home for other reasons such as having driving anxiety, or if you live in a rural area where it may be difficult for you to travel from home to see a therapist who may live many miles away.

So, the Skype Counseling option is a very good choice for many people. Also, if you are living abroad, Skype Therapy can be an ideal option, and indeed, many of my clients are living abroad as expatriates, working abroad, some in the Middle East, others in Europe, in non-English speaking countries, and many in Asia, where it is very difficult to find a local therapist to work with. The style of therapy that I offer via Skype is called Mindfulness Therapy, which has been growing tremendously in popularity in recent years. Mindfulness Therapy provides a way of working with your unresolved emotions in a very direct way, cultivating awareness and cultivating friendship toward your emotions, developing a relationship with them that allows them to heal. Most people react to unpleasant emotions like anxiety or depression with aversion and resistance. But, aversion only makes things worse and actually inhibits the transformation of anxiety or depression. Healing and resolution occur only when you can fully embrace your emotions with this compassionate awareness that we call mindfulness. This process may be difficult to do at first, but it is the most fastest way to overcome anxiety and depression.
